CASQ2
Associated conditions:
- Arrhythmia
CASQ2 makes calsequestrin, a protein that stores calcium inside heart muscle cells and controls its release with each heartbeat. Genetic changes in this gene let calcium leak out at the wrong moment and are associated with an autosomal recessive condition called Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT), where stress or exercise can trigger dangerous rhythms. Knowing your genetic status enables avoiding triggers and taking protective medication that prevent sudden cardiac events.

Arrhythmia
An arrhythmia is an abnormal heart rhythm. Inherited forms can cause fast, irregular or dangerous rhythms and, rarely, sudden collapse, so carriers benefit from heart-rhythm testing, sometimes medication, and avoiding specific triggers.
