ENG

Associated conditions:

  • High blood pressure

ENG makes endoglin, a receptor on the cells lining blood vessels that guides normal vessel formation. Genetic changes in this gene are associated with an autosomal dominant condition called hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia, producing fragile abnormal vessels that bleed easily and larger malformations in the lungs, brain and liver. Knowing your genetic status enables early detection so doctors can treat these before serious bleeding or stroke.

Conditions linked to ENG

High blood pressure

High blood pressure (hypertension) makes the heart and arteries work harder and, over time, raises the risk of heart, kidney and blood-vessel problems. Inherited forms exist, so knowing your risk supports regular monitoring and early treatment.
