CAV1
Associated conditions:
- High blood pressure
CAV1 makes caveolin-1, the main building block of caveolae, tiny pits in the cell surface that manage fat handling and blood vessel signaling. Genetic changes in this gene are associated with an autosomal dominant risk of pulmonary arterial hypertension, dangerously high pressure in the lung arteries, and lipodystrophy. Knowing your genetic status enables early cardiac and metabolic monitoring.
Conditions linked to CAV1
High blood pressure
High blood pressure (hypertension) makes the heart and arteries work harder and, over time, raises the risk of heart, kidney and blood-vessel problems. Inherited forms exist, so knowing your risk supports regular monitoring and early treatment.
