DDX41
Associated conditions:
- Haematological cancer
DDX41 provides instructions for a helicase that processes RNA and helps blood-forming stem cells stay healthy. Genetic changes in this gene are associated with an autosomal dominant, raised lifetime risk of adult-onset myeloid cancers such as myelodysplastic syndrome and acute myeloid leukaemia. Knowing your genetic status enables blood monitoring and careful donor selection if a transplant is ever needed.
Conditions linked to DDX41
Haematological cancer
Haematological cancers affect the blood and bone marrow, including leukaemias and lymphomas. Some inherited variants raise their risk, so carriers benefit from awareness of relevant symptoms and, in some syndromes, periodic blood-count monitoring.
