TNNT2
Associated conditions:
- Cardiomyopathy
TNNT2 makes cardiac troponin T, part of the calcium-controlled switch that turns heart muscle contraction on and off. Genetic changes in this gene are associated with an autosomal dominant risk of hypertrophic or dilated cardiomyopathy and carry a notable risk of sudden death even with little heart thickening. Knowing your genetic status enables ongoing surveillance.

Cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathy is disease of the heart muscle that can make it thickened, enlarged or weakened. Inherited forms can affect the heart’s pumping or rhythm, so carriers are monitored with heart scans and ECGs and treated early to protect heart function.
