TNNC1
Associated conditions:
- Cardiomyopathy
TNNC1 makes cardiac troponin C, the calcium sensor that tells heart muscle when to contract with each beat. Genetic changes in this gene alter this calcium response and are associated with an autosomal dominant risk of hypertrophic or dilated cardiomyopathy, changing the heart's thickness or pumping strength. Knowing your genetic status enables monitoring and treatment to protect heart function.

Cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathy is disease of the heart muscle that can make it thickened, enlarged or weakened. Inherited forms can affect the heart’s pumping or rhythm, so carriers are monitored with heart scans and ECGs and treated early to protect heart function.
