CYLD

Associated conditions:

  • CYLD cutaneous syndrome

CYLD makes an enzyme that dampens cell-growth signaling and acts as a tumour suppressor. Genetic changes in this gene are associated with an autosomal dominant condition called CYLD cutaneous syndrome, marked by multiple benign skin tumours (cylindromas, spiradenomas and trichoepitheliomas) growing from hair follicles and sweat glands. Knowing your genetic status enables regular skin monitoring and timely removal of troublesome growths.

Conditions linked to CYLD

CYLD cutaneous syndrome

CYLD cutaneous syndrome causes benign skin tumours to grow, usually on the head and neck, from hair follicles and sweat glands. They are not cancer but can be numerous, so care focuses on monitoring and removing troublesome ones.
