Genetic Counselling support for recipients of donor gametes

Regular price $211.00
Sale price $211.00 Regular price

This service supports people who are planning to have fertility treatment using either donor eggs, sperm or embryos.

All clinic recruited donors undergo genetic carrier screening as part of their obligations for being a donor. This is the case for all local and international donors.

Most Fertility groups strongly recommend that individuals using donor gametes (egg, sperm or embryo) also undergo Carrier screening too.

As part of this service you will receive:

  • A reproductive risk assessment which helps you understand how your donors results influence your children’s chances of being impacted by an inherited genetic condition.
  • If you have had carrier screening yourself, it will compare how you and your donors results relate to each and how this influences your children’s chances of being impacted by an inherited genetic condition.
  • A complimentary Genetic counselling appointment to discuss the reproductive risks and your options in detail.

Next Steps

Once all required information has been received, your report will take up to 5 business days. We will contact you once available. Please note, the 5 business date does not include a GC appointment if this is required.

Is this service right for me?

This service is designed for people who:

  • are using donor gametes (egg, sperm and/or embryo) where the donor has already undergone carrier screening.
  • have had carrier screening performed through a provider other than Eugene and wish to have these results compared to their chosen donors.
  • have chosen not to undertake carrier screening themselves to understand how their donors results and their chance of being a carrier may influence health outcomes for their future children.
